Was at third Avenue yesterday. The wind was a little weird, it felt like it was between 15 and 25 knots. So every once in a while I would just sink or take off randomly. Apart from that it was a cool mini session, lots of swell to practice ollies on my weak leg. One week ago, on sunday, Rick made me try a downloop transition. It works well and develops some nice pull :) Tried to do some jumps using the kite, too, yesterday. Was too gusty to try real jumps though. After launching on the beach, the wind was pretty strong so I could just start hovering over the ground by pulling my bar a little. Yay!

Oh, and like most of 2006 Waroos, eventually a bump on the leading edge of my kite showed up. I dropped it off at Sonny's of 3rd Ave Kite Repair on thursday night who did a great job fixing it. So if you need your kite repaired, ask for Sonny, he's a great guy.

So for those of you who did not notice: This blog has got a funky new domain name: I switched from jannis.to over to jann.is :) The .to extension has been bothering me for a while, and somebody has been blocking jannis.com for 8 years or so. Big shouts go out to Örn Arnarson who I abused as a human proxy in order to register an icelandic domain - cause they only let residents do so.

If you run into this error while trying to launch the lucene command line demo:

localhost:/usr/local/src/lucene-2.2.0 $ java org.apache.lucene.demo.IndexFiles `pwd`/src
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/lucene/demo/IndexFiles

Make sure you actually added the two jar files to your classpath, and not the directory they're in:

export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/usr/local/src/lucene-2.2.0/lucene-demos-2.2.0.jar:
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/usr/local/src/lucene-2.2.0/lucene-core-2.2.0.jar

You can do it in one command, of course, but that would be a long line which would bust my design ;)
