Sony Ericsson M600i software update

If you try to update your M600i's software you will most likely use a software
called "update service" from Sony Ericsson. There are some pitfalls
which you should know about:

You need to have Internet Explorer open in the background while you're doing the update
You should make Internet Explorer the default browser during the upgrade process (I know, it hurts)
You should try the backspace key on your phone where the installation instructions advise you to press the C button
You must hold the C/backspace button down while you attach the USB cable

Well, what kind of shitty phone software is that?

I already thought Nokia and Siemens-Tools would suck enough. ;-)

Well, I have this phone and the "C" Key works just fine. It's the key that has the letter c on it, nothing fancy and it works. :)

But I have a question. Where do you see what system version you have. My phone said it was updated already and I've done it ones long time ago. mm..

While in standby, press the "More" button, then "Status". Your phone version is under "CDA:". Mine is CDA162011/1 R4C01. Actually, only the last part is the software version (R4C01).

Hey, I don't get that when I press the more button. Only:

-silent
-flight mode
-keylock
-mailbox
-connections+
-greeting screen setup
-help
-task manager

it isnt the backspace button which you have to press. its the c button (7 right)... it works perfectly...

It did not work for me perfectly.

In fact it tool about 10 tries. Maybe more.

The Internet button which some people suggest works, also did not work, but finally I got the C button to work.

Others have said that you need Internet Exporer in the background. On my successful try I had this going.

Lot of effort.

when i tried to upgrade my m600i by using the update service, everything went well, until after i've selected the language and i clicked the "next arrow", it keeps loading (up to 4 hours). and i'm using cable connection by the way.
Could any one please help me. My m600i got alot of problems now. Keeps telling me "application could not start" or "memory not enough" when i'm not using any programs at all.
Please help me...I'm desperate. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks for this writeup mate, although it did work out satisfactory for me in the end by actually pressing (and holding) the C (i.e., 7) key in the end.

Great piece of shit software from SE by the way. Not only do I own a Mac (so I had to bring this stuff to my PC at work), it also performs sketchy at best.

Still, kudos for publiching this. That C-key thingie had me going postal for a while there.

Guys...!!!

I just ran the update service on my mobile and believe it or not, my mobile is rocking..!! Its fast, the volume has increased ten folds..!! the best part is, after the update, I see that there is a direct soft key to turn on the speaker while calling..!!

Sony Ericsson Rocks..!!
